The University of Arizona

Our Learning Model

The HealthCare Partnership’s core education programs include Certification Programs, Instructor Programs, and Health and Human Service Professional Programs. Continuing education and certification programs follow a stepped-care certification model that recognizes differing contexts, intensities, and professional roles in the delivery of tobacco dependence treatment services, and addresses the potential need for referral to more intensive treatment or outside resources during follow-up.

Programs implement a “training-of-trainers” model to build sustainable capacity at the local level (adapted from Abrams et al., 1996).

Tobacco dependence treatment specialists are not defined by their professional affiliation or by the field in which they are trained. The audience for this certification program includes all individuals who are dedicated to saving the life of a person who uses tobacco.

These programs are taught at The University of Arizona, as well as nationally and internationally by certified instructors. The University of Arizona Faculty Instructors host any of the programs listed above and are available to deliver programs to your place of business. Please contact the HealthCare Partnership at 520-626-9344 for additional information regarding this program delivery option.
