The National LGBTQI+ Cancer Network, a CDC National Network, invited Zenén Salazar, Director of HealthCare Partnership (HCP) within the Psychology Department, to speak at the September conference “An Approach to Queer Wellness: Combating Smoking Disparities in LGBTQI+ & Indigenous Communities.” Mr. Salazar discussed HCP’s Basic Tobacco Intervention Skills for Native Communities program and their ongoing collaborations with Indigenous communities to foster meaningful partnerships that address the unique needs and aspirations of these communities.
The CDC’s National Networks Driving Action aim to prevent health disparities related to commercial tobacco and cancer by fostering equitable communities. They achieve this by sharing resources, best practices, and effective evidence-based strategies to enhance public health nationwide.
